Name: Laylah Age: 23 Birthday: March 6 [Pisces] Country: House Darshane, southeastern Kalria Script: Laylah's writing is very cramped and sometimes overlaps on itself. Family: Mother, Father, Two younger siblings [all vanished into thin air :D] Lost: Her family. The entirety of House Darshane mysteriously up and vanished two days after she discovered her fun fun journal. Theme: Amazing Grace |
Laylah was born the eldest of three children in House Darshane, and has been blind since birth. It happened one day when Laylah was still young that a travelling merchant stopped by on his way through Kalria to Jiranz. He carried all manner of unique items, several of which he claimed to be ancient mystical artifacts of While her parents haggled over miscellaneous items of no importance, Laylah discovered something rather odd when her hand brushed a certain bauble among the merchant's wares: she could tell what was going on around her. Or, rather, she could see what was going on around her, as if through a haze so the details were far from clear. With this oddity came the sound of wind blowing, a quiet whispering, and the feeling of something else hovering nearby. When they noticed her interest in the item, her parents bought it for her as a gift. She hasn't stopped wearing it since. As she grew older, she would often ask her parents about the odd whispering she claimed to hear, or about the possibility of a storm when the sky seemed perfectly clear. Her parents grew worried, and after a while sent her to a local infirmary to see if an explanation could be found. There was none. Or at least, none the infirmary staff was able to find, and things grew worse when Laylah mysteriously vanished one night. On the eve of October thirty-first, a fifteen-year old girl was found wandering the cemetary behind Mercant Abbey in northern Kalria. She appeared to be in perfectly good health, and injured neither mentally nor physically, though her eyes had an odd blank appearance to them. The nuns of the abbey took her in, though she claimed to have no recollection of where she lived or who her family was, or even how she had wound up wandering the cemetary. It was a lie, of course, but the truth (that she had fled from an infirmary because her parents thought she had gone nuts) wouldn't have done her much good. With very few options, and taking pity on the girl, the nuns offered her a place at the abbey, and she took to their simple lifestyle rather quickly. For eight years, she lived and worked and socialized with the nuns and patrons of the Abbey, until one day she discovered what appeared to be a battered old journal sitting at her bedside. Two days after opening it, a traveling merchant passing through the abbey made mention of the mysterious disappearance of an entire House of southern Kalria - House Darshane. Laylah vanished from the abbey that very night, leaving no explanation for her sudden departure. She journeyed to the place where House Darshane had once been, and sure enough, no trace remained. |
Laylah is a rather pensive and polite young woman. Due mostly to her family's reaction to her hearing whispering and random spurts of wind, she rarely speaks what is really on her mind. It's why she cherishes her journal so much - because she can use it as an outlet to think things over; she doesn't want to get stuck in an infirmary again because people think she's crazy and she certainly doesn't want someone to take away the "Eye of Heaven." As for her family, and House Darshane, she will only talk about it if directly asked or questioned; she wonders sometimes if things would have gone differently had she returned sooner and not fled the infirmary in the first place. She will never openly talk about the whispers, or the wind, or any of the other oddities that seem to go along with the "Eye of Heaven," and attributes her miraculous hazy sight to the gods, or spirits of some sort. As a result, she is rather spiritual, or at least observes all the major holidays sincerely, oftentimes stopping at abbeys and churches, where she will donate whatever she has to spare. While it isn't always evident, Laylah is very perceptive, rather intelligent, and will gladly help people in need. She isn't known to get angry, having absolutely no temper to speak of. She is very open-minded, and will almost always speak sincerely and listen just as sincerely. She is known, however, to flee from situations that she can't handle, even though it usually leaves her with a terrible sense of guilt. |
Laylah is of medium height with long blonde hair that has a tendancy to curl upwards at the ends. Her eyes are strangely blank due to being blind, and can look rather odd at times. She has an overall soft appearance to her, though she will occasionally get a far-away look in her eyes that may or may not be her zoning out completely. She wears many styles of clothing, though mostly ones that are loose and airy and can billow in the breeze She tries to avoid riding horses, since she doesn't quite trust her depth perception and doesn't really want to fall off and land on her butt somewhere.
